Frequently Asked Questions About Carpet Cleaning

How Long Does It Take for My Carpet to DRY?
Approximately 6-8 hours, depending on conditions in the house (temperature, air flow, humidity, etc.). Before we leave, we will direct you on the best possible ways to dry your carpet.
I Have Heard That Once You Get Your Carpets Cleaned, They Get Dirtier Quicker.
This can be true depending on the processes used. For example, the shampoo method of cleaning can do this unless the detergent is rinsed thoroughly out of the carpet. If cheap, inferior detergents are used with any method of cleaning, this also can be true. We at SE Cleaners use only the highest quality of anti-soiling detergents. This, along with our soft-water rinse, makes quick re-soiling not even an issue. You will see and feel the difference!
Will My Carpet Feel Harder Than The Normal Soft Touch It Had Originally?
Usually not. This is caused by hard water; we use soft. Residues from previous carpet cleanings can also cause this. Our detergents will not cause such a problem.
Why Do Spots Sometimes Come Back a Few Days After Cleaning?
If you have a spill that reaches deep down to the carpet backing when cleaned, the surface may appear clean after cleaning. As carpet dries, the moisture loosens up the spot deep down, causing a wicking effect where the spot reappears or resurfaces. When cleaning, we concentrate more on these spots by flushing them out several times. This does not always mean that spots will not come back. If it does come back, contact us, and we can correct the problem.
Can I Remove Spots Myself?
Yes. Mild detergents you have around the house can remove most stains. To safely remove a stain, call us, and in most cases, we can walk you through it.
Can I Clean My Carpets Myself?

Yes, if done properly. But oftentimes problems occur from over-wetting and the use of too much detergent. Over-wetting will eventually cause a rippling of the carpet or delaminate the backing. Too much detergent will cause rapid re-soiling, fiber deterioration and possibly browning on lighter-color carpets. Time and back-breaking work are also involved. What Can I Do If My Pet Has an Accident on My Carpet or Upholstery?

Most people spend a lot of money on pet deodorizers. In most cases, the chemicals work only minimally, and they find that they have to call a professional and spend more money. Yes, and in most cases we may even be able to give you a price quote over the phone, or you can email us at [email protected]. Please provide as much info as possible – such as room sizes.

Do I Have To Move All My Furniture Out of the Rooms?
No. We can move your furniture around in the room as we clean. We then place it back in place with disposable barriers under the feet as needed so they dont touch the damp carpet. For the amount and type of furniture we move in most homes there is no charge for this.

You, the customer, are responsible for moving smaller and breakable pieces out of the room.

When Do I Know When It Is Time to Clean My Air Ducts?

There are many different factors that may influance when you need to clean you vents. New construction and remodeling introduces dust and debris into the duct work that most contractors don’t remove. You can also simply observe the amount of dust and other contaminates on your air vents and return covers. If you are noticing more dust throught you home that can also be a sign of a dirty ventilation system. Increased symptoms of asthma and allergies is another indicator of an issue. How often should I get my vents cleaned?

That is a difficult ansewer to give as there is so much conflicting information and veriables in each home. I tell my customers to consider 3 things when deciding the fequancy that fits them best.

There is about 200sqft of duct work in the average home. That is the size of a large bedroom. How long would you let a room in your home go between at least sweeping or vacuuming out a room in your home?
The manufacurers of my equipment recommend every 1-3 years.
We are cleaning spaces that you cannot see easily to difinitively know when they need a cleaning. With that in mind I would recommend that you buy your peice of mind. An example of what that means is say that knowing the vents are clean is worth $15 a month(price of netflix) and your cleaning cost $600 then you would clean your system every 40 months or 3 years 4 months. Of course at each cleaning we can give you an idea of how dirty they are to adjust your timing if needed.

Will Duct cleaning get my House dusty dirty?

With the systems many low quality cleaners use yes, certainly. With our system no not at all. We use a negative pressure system that pulls all the dust into powerful vacuums set up on the system. We also seal off all the vents and the furance itself. This creates an enclosed system where we do the cleaning protecting you home and furnace.
