Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our cleaning and restoration services? We are here to help. Below are answers to some of the most common questions homeowners and businesses ask about carpet cleaning, air duct cleaning, water damage restoration, odor removal, indoor air quality, and more. Our goal is to provide honest information, professional guidance, and dependable solutions that help you feel confident about caring for your home or business.

Carpet Cleaning Questions

Most carpets dry within 4–6 hours, although drying time can vary depending on carpet thickness, humidity, airflow, and the level of soiling. Our powerful truck-mounted extraction equipment removes significantly more moisture than portable carpet cleaners, helping your carpets dry faster and reducing the risk of mold or mildew.

No. Proper professional carpet cleaning actually helps your carpet stay cleaner longer. Carpets become dirty more quickly when cleaning leaves behind sticky soap residue. At SE Cleaners, our powerful extraction process removes dirt, cleaning solutions, and residue from deep within the carpet fibers, leaving your carpets cleaner without attracting additional soil.

No. Properly cleaned carpets should feel soft, fresh, and comfortable. If a carpet feels stiff after cleaning, it is often because detergent residue was left behind. Our extraction process removes as much residue as possible to restore the carpet’s natural feel.

Some stains may “wick” back to the surface as the carpet dries. This occurs when spills have penetrated deep into the carpet backing or padding. If this happens, contact us. Many wick-back spots can be treated with an additional spot treatment.

Some small spills can be treated successfully if addressed immediately. Avoid using household cleaners or excessive amounts of soap, as these can permanently damage carpet fibers or leave behind residue that attracts more dirt. If you’re unsure, contact SE Cleaners before attempting stain removal.

Rental carpet cleaning machines and consumer products can help with minor maintenance, but they typically cannot match the cleaning power of professional truck-mounted equipment. DIY machines often leave behind excess moisture and detergent residue, which can lead to faster re-soiling or even mold growth if carpets do not dry properly.

Blot the affected area immediately using clean white towels—do not scrub the stain. Contact SE Cleaners as soon as possible for professional treatment. We also offer professional spotting products that are safe for many common stains and are available for purchase if you’d like to have one on hand between professional cleanings.

Air Duct Cleaning Questions

There are many different factors that may influance when you need to clean you vents. New construction and remodeling introduces dust and debris into the duct work that most contractors don’t remove. You can also simply observe the amount of dust and other contaminates on your air vents and return covers. If you are noticing more dust throught you home that can also be a sign of a dirty ventilation system. Increased symptoms of asthma and allergies is another indicator of an issue. Please call us and we will go over any questions you have in this reguard. 608-752-5326

That is a difficult ansewer to give as there is so much conflicting information and veriables in each home. I tell my customers to consider 3 things when deciding the fequancy that fits them best.

There is about 200sqft of duct work in the average home. That is the size of a large bedroom. How long would you let a room in your home go between at least sweeping or vacuuming out a room in your home?
The manufacurers of my equipment recommend every 1-3 years.
We are cleaning spaces that you cannot see easily to difinitively know when they need a cleaning. With that in mind I would recommend that you buy your peice of mind. An example of what that means is say that knowing the vents are clean is worth $15 a month(price of netflix) and your cleaning cost $600 then you would clean your system every 40 months or 3 years 4 months. Of course at each cleaning we can give you an idea of how dirty they are to adjust your timing if needed.

Also ask us about our Aeroseal system to seal your ducts and help extend the time between cleanings.

With the systems many low quality cleaners use yes, certainly. With our system no not at all. We use a negative pressure system that pulls all the dust into powerful vacuums set up on the system. We also seal off all the vents and the furance itself. This creates an enclosed system where we do the cleaning protecting you home and furnace. Please call us at 608-752-5326 with any further questions about how we protect your home from any dust durning a cleaning.

Yes. Dryer vent cleaning is often recommended to be done with the duct work cleaning and more often then the duct work itself. Severe lint buildup can reduce dryer performance and may create safety concerns.
